Botox® is a substance derived from bacteria that causes a relaxed paralysis in muscles. Its been used for many years and other areas in medicine. Because of its ability to cause a temporary paralysis in some of the facial muscles, it has been found to be a useful adjunct in facial rejuvenation. This occurs by causing muscles that normally crease the skin, forming unsightly lines, to become paralyzed.
